Graduating as an AP scholar with distinction, he went on to excel at Kings College, where he obtained a dual degree in Biology and Molecular Biology. His academic achievements continued at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University, where he honed his skills and knowledge in the field of medicine.

As a fourth-year medical student, Dr. Farrugia married his college sweetheart, after which he began his postgraduate medical education in the Internal Medicine Program at SUNY Stony Brook. He then completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at St. Vincents Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan, where he specialized in radial artery catheterization and endovascular techniques. Following this, Dr. Farrugia pursued further training in interventional cardiology at Winthrop University Hospital on Long Island, solidifying his expertise in advanced cardiovascular care.

In July 2011, Dr. Farrugia and his family moved to New Jersey to advance his career as an interventional cardiologist and vascular specialist. He spent eight years with Barnabas Health Medical Group, serving as the Director of Outpatient Vascular Medicine and Chief of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Monmouth Medical Center. This experience inspired him to develop an improved care delivery model, leading to the establishment of Advanced Heart and Vascular in Central Jersey.

Board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, Dr. Farrugias credentials speak to his expertise and dedication to advancing the field of cardiac and vascular medicine. As a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI), he continues to uphold the highest standards of care in his practice.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Farrugia is a devoted husband to his wife, Erin, and a loving father to four children - Samantha, Vincent, Brianna, and Thomas - and an energetic Labradoodle named Private. He and his wife are training in ballroom dancing, having been certified up to Bronze Level 3 in several dances.
