The most disturbing horror book of the year: Deplorable Instinct

Sterling, Colorado Oct 1, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - Watch out Leatherface, a new slasher villain is in town. This time in the form of a teenage boy with severe mental illness, and a family he absolutely despises. This is Deplorable Instinct, an "extreme horror" novel written by YouTuber Matthew Holman/CrackedRack, and it is one of the most disturbing books of the year. It features a teenage boy with a rough home life and poor social life going on a massacre at his high school, taking a bunch of innocent people and animals with him. The book claims to be inspired by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saw, and The Human Centipede. These are all bizarre influences for a book, a Youtuber's book that is.

In this book are numerous scenes of murder, sadism, animal cruelty, parental abuse, and the list goes on. These extremely disgusting and disturbing scenes only serve to showcase the mental deterioration of the 14-year-old protagonist Ethan Wright. He starts off brutalizing small animals in his neighborhood and shoplifting to attempting to brutally murder his female classmate with a hammer. The novel's vibes indeed give Deja vu of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween, with a strong focus on gore and gritty storytelling. It blends the harrowing topic of American school shootings with the formula of a classic slasher flick, in the form of a short novel.

The original book was released earlier this year but had several serious quality control issues and a poor-quality launch due to what is clearly hateful review bombing and a poor marketing budget. Though before 2024 ends the author plans to release Deplorable Instinct: Authors Cut which is a significantly upgraded remaster of the original, before potentially moving on to a hypothetical Deplorable Instinct 2. Overall, this is really not a book for young children or those with faint hearts.

You can read the original book for free or purchase it here, but it is recommended you wait for the remastered Author's Cut which offers a significantly upgraded experience.
