United Way of Southern Nevada Announces 2023-2024 Recipients of the Community Impact Grant Program
Las Vegas, Nevada Jul 17, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is thrilled to announce that 43 local organizations have been selected as recipients of UWSN Community Impact Grants for the 2024 fiscal year. Remaining steadfast in their mission to unite our community to improve people's lives, UWSN's Community Impact Grant Program provides funding to local nonprofit organizations that are helping students reach their potential, ensuring there are accessible pathways into the workforce, and helping people avoid crises and maintain household stability.
Emergency support services, education, and a proper introduction into the workforce are pivotal in bridging the gaps our community faces every day, said UWSN President and CEO Julian High. As the need continues to grow, so does our duty to help Southern Nevadans facing these challenges. Through our Community Impact Grant Program, we provide local organizations with essential funding to carry out our mission to help support students from pre-k to graduation day, build pathways to the workforce, and help local families keep a roof over their heads.
A long-standing supporter of Southern Nevadas nonprofit sector for more than 65 years, UWSN consistently works towards uniting the local community to improve lives by collaborating with partners throughout Southern Nevada to provide public and private funding to support those in need. With a special focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, UWSNs Community Impact Grant Program was created to help fund initiatives that build pathways out of poverty by providing services to assist those in emergency situations as well as bridge the gap and help students graduate and successfully enter the workforce.
In fiscal year 2024, the $1.6 million in grant money will be distributed to 18 programs providing Community Supports, 13 Student Success programs and 12 Workforce Development programs spanning the City of Las Vegas, Henderson, Lincoln, Nye and Esmeralda Counties, North Las Vegas and Unincorporated Clark County. Each organization was carefully evaluated by the UWSN Funding Review Committee volunteers through a rigorous application and review process, and ultimately were selected for their commitment to United Ways mission towards the betterment of Southern Nevada. The full list of the 43 Community Impact Grant Program recipients can be found at uwsn.org/2023partners.
The UWSN Community Impact Grants were generously funded from contributions from numerous entities including Ms. MacKenzie Scott, The Boyd Family, Boyd Gaming, Don and Dee Snyder, the leadership and employees of NV Energy, UPS, Credit One Bank, Nevada State Bank, US Bank, PNC Bank, Enterprise Leasing, Deloitte, Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts, Station Casinos and the late Edward Grigonis.
